How the the Belkin Pocket Power 5,000mAh Durable Ultra Slim Portable Charger enables me to stay charged and keep working on the run – in style.
I run my websites and content business largely from my smart phone, so keeping it charged is a constant challenge. After I lost two portable power supplies given to me by a software vendor, I was suddenly in the market for a new one.
I knew that I wanted these capabilities:
- Pocket sized – easy to carry in a pant or shirt pocket (my two previous “portable” chargers were roughly a half inch thick, and definitely did not fit comfortably in a pants pocket)
- Light weight (my two “bricks” were a bit on the heavy side).
- A charge indicator, so I can tell when I need to recharge it (the previous power bricks had a digital readout that showed the percentage of battery remaining)
- A recognized name brand in consumer-electronics (I didn’t want some no name, el cheapo charger that would stop working after a few months)
- Enough capacity to charge my iPhone 8+ twice, at 2.4 mA (for faster charging)
The elegant solution to my need for POWER
After looking at numerous options add a Target store, I settled upon the Belkin Pocket Power 5,000mAh Durable Ultra Slim Portable Charger.
The design is simple and elegant. There aren’t a lot of buttons or settings to worry about – you plug in your device and it charges it. It has a smooth, slightly rubberized matte black plastic surface that doesn’t have any nooks or crannies to collect dust or dirt.
It’s almost as minimal and elegant as an Apple product!
The Pocket Power’s slim design (just over 0.5 in. thick) makes it easy to slip into my pants pocket and carry it with me. In fact, because it’s slightly smaller than my iPhone, I can stack them up and still fit both of them in a larger pocket.
Featuring fast-charging capability and polymer battery cell technology, this mighty mite is very light – just over 4-1/2 ounces (130 g). On one side, four mini-LED lights show how much charge is remaining – simple but effective. It charges my iPhone 8+ fairly quickly and also takes a charge from an AC adapted equally fast.
Belkin batteries include sensors that monitor heat, voltage and circuitry. Excess heat, voltage fluctuation or circuit abnormalities activate an override that shuts the battery down immediately for ultimate safety. That’s good news for busy people who can’t afford to have their phone blown up by a poorly designed charger.
The Pocket Power 5K is protected by a Belkin Connected Equipment Warranty. If your device is damaged by an electrical charge while properly connected to the charger, Belkin will repair or replace it up to a value of $2,500. Nice!
At $29.95, this portable phone charger is an excellent investment.
I highly recommend this sweet little device as a stocking stuffer or as an affordable and eminently practical Christmas gift.
Or, for that matter, any time you need a portable pick-me-up to keep your smartphone – and you – productive!
